Photographer’s Note
I've been to Edinburgh several times and knew of Hollyrood Park - every great city has a park, but this was incredible - a mountain in walking distance from the high street!
This is the ascent up to Arthur's Seat, the highest of the three dead volcanoes that sculpt the city. The famous Edinburgh Castle sits on top of the second highest.
When I made my journey, I was fully loaded with my new tripod, but didn't put it to use - clouds rolled in and I was covered in thick fog. It kept getting thicker until I finally reached the top and was able to look out in the clear sky above the clouds - nothing of the earth to be seen except the ancient volcanic seat of rock where I stood.
Even though I missed the views, the dynamic walking has scored more points for me in this gem of a city.
