Photographer’s Note
One Sunday afternoon, with a few hours of time and deliciously warm weather, I went for a stroll on the Promenade in Bournemouth. To my delight, I discovered that it was hosting a weekly event entitled "Classic Cars on the Prom" (Every Sunday, April 1 to August 26). The entry fee was a smile -- what more could one want?
This entrant, like the majority of the others in an ever-changing line-up, was delighted to have a little attention paid to his baby.
Now if I get the next part wrong, I am sure there will be eager minds to correct me (^o^)!
I believe that this is a 1961 Ford Consul MKII, right guys?
Tech: resized and sharpened (no changes)
Thanks for looking, and ... ... ... Drive safely!

Hello Silke,
Normally we use a polariser filter to eliminate reflections in the paintwork, but here i like the reflection of the proud owner in the hood. That car looks brand new seeing how the red shines and the chromework. I think this type was made between 1959 and 1961.
Good crop with the letters on the hood and the license plate.

Hello Silke,
Two shining beauties captured on a sunny day! Haven't been too many of them in UK since you left, floodings are constantly being reported on the news...
Nice angle on the car, and you also pick up the owner's reflection in the perfect paintwork!
Greetings,

Hi,
Great picture! I learned to drive in one of these (it wasn't new) - three speed column change, front bench seat, lovely. This must be a deluxe model with the visor and the wee aeroplane on the hood. Looks like a Borders plate. Superbly presented. Thanks.
Dougie.

Hello Silke. An unusual picture from your camera. For me it is one your best. This wonderful red car, - and in addition the proud owner. Simply perfectly and worth seeing. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Bonjour Silke,
Amicalement

Hi Silke,
what a sunny bright capture of this car. Good POV and good idea to reduce the view. This red is amazing. But I do not have any knowledge about his one. I can only enjoy it.

Hello Silke,
What a beautiful Ford Consul! It even has its old AA badge! You've captured a guy here who's proud both of being photographed and of his car!
You have captured the wonderful shine on this car. Every bit of it reflects the light! A good sharp image and nicely cropped!
Best wishes,
Bev :-)

Hello Silke,
This is red, isn't it? :)) I love red, in fact. One of my favorite color. I am not that much a car lover, so I can't help you on the brand and year and the rest. The only thing I know is that I would like to have such a beautiful car!! Only for the look of it!
About the photo itself, I like the presence of the smiling man and especially of his reflection on the shiny car. The small detail that I like: the dice attached to the rearview mirror! :))
Great one!

Hi Silke,
He most certainly does look happy with his pride and joy!An image of just the car wouldn't have necessarily been all that special but having added its owner and narrowed the angle you have created a lovely composition and a cracking image. The light and colours a just great and I like his reflection on the bonnet.Well done and take care.

Hi Silke,
Leave it to you to find a proud British cowboy with a tattoo and a shinny red relic. There are many fine elements in this tightly cropped beauty. The reflection is striking, the dice and the chrome name plate are clearly seen in fine details. The man's expression is priceless. Excellent photo TFS.

Now this one really got me, Silke. I was saying, yes, middle America; a 'good old old boy' from one of those mid-western states, with a period American car to boot (he looks like someone who voted for George W Bush!). But ,no,it's a ford Consul, and it even has an AA badge and then I see that it is England not America. very funny! It's a great combination of two portraits, the car and the man. Mind you, no Ford Consul ever came it that delicious tone of red. As I recall, they only came in black. This is very nicely exposed, too. with a nice even quality, good colour and no burn-out areas from reflection. All together it's a delight. I think it might also be a subtle comment of the eccentric Englishman and their quaint little hobbies. regards kevin

Hi Silke,
Only from the license plate can I tell this picture is from the UK, otherwise I'd name the US or Canada for there is that distinctively american something in the guy and his car. That one is really shining judging by the guy's reflection !
Have a nice day,

Hi Silke
Great composition and reflection of the owner (I guess he is). I used to know someone in Montréal who was driving a Consul, a british made car but this is a long time ago before we see a Toyoya in the street. I'm leaving for the Georgian Bay area sunday. Hope to come back with plenty of good shots for TE.

Hi dear!
It was a nice coincidence to post old car's pictures at same time, Silke!
I like your version a lot! Well, its impossible to resist to this red consul, where we can see some interesting details, like those dice! The owner looks like very proud of its toy and we both know that he deserves all attention. The picture´s quality is very nice on all details!
Cheers!

Hi Silke. I'm glad I came back to look at this one, which I remembered flashing past my eyes the other day. It's magnificent. What colour, what lighting, and what a character. A Pommy cowboy with a Consul. I love those old English cars of the 50s and 60s, and used to travel around in them as a boy when my father bought them. The reflection on the bonnet is great and the expression on his face is one of contented pride. Funny thing, though - it looks as though he is chained to the wing mirror! Marvellous shot. I've really enjoyed looking at it.

Andrew

Hi Silke,
The car is great .. but it is the owner and his reflection that I find striking .. when I clicked on the image I expected it was an elderly gentleman .. wonderfully done .. striking vibrant colors .. great crop and composition .. maybe a nudge too much sharpening on his arm against the shirt .. great image.
take care,
John

Hi SIlke,
Many components make this a very interesting shot. The dominance of two basic colors the red and blue. The reflection of your subject on the car and the excellent light. The proud onwner with his 'babe' makes for an interesting subject. Well done!
Best Regards,
Flavia
