Photographer’s Note
A view of the Mosque of Suleiman at the top of Sokratous St in the Old Town of Rhodes.
The Old Town is well worth a visit both for its history and also for its markets.

Hi David,
Very nice compositon showing the full richness of a lively place. This view reminds me the brass workshops of Mostar (Kujundziluk). I like the colors a lot.
Cheers,

A good shot of the streets with the mosque behind it. Looks very touristy (the soccer jersey's are a dead giveaway...lol) but nice and quaint. The pinkish colour of the mosque makes it look very summery. TFS

Good shot of the busy market in Rhodes Town. Very well composed with the market buildings almost framing the mosque. The detail is sharp and clear. Although the clouds are over-exposed it doesn't seem to matter as the sky in between is a lovely shade of blue.

Hi David,
nice and interesting shot of the old town of Rhodos. When I visited it a few years ago I liked it there very much although it has suffered a lot from mass tourist. The multicultural past of this place is everywhere visible. Your posting demonstrates that very well. Unfortunately there has not been much left of that. The Turkish minority has shrinked during the last decades (obviously due to the not so exemplary treatment by the Greeks) and the once thriving Jewish community was exterminated by the Germans in WW II. Anyhow there is still a fascinating, albeit very light touch of living multiculturalism which goes beyond the pure presence of “alien” monuments and buildings, which is typically the “dead” legacy of exterminated minorities.
