Ovan Lake Photo | TrekEarth

Photographer’s Note

Ovan is a small alpine lake in Qazvin province of
Iran - in Alamoot region. No tributary flows to the
lake, but the water sources are several springs at
the bottom of the lake. The lake is
also surrounded by three small villages which are
called :Varnon,Ovan and Zar-abad.

The lake can be accessed by a vehicle and is a good
place for camping and fishing.

I see you keep showing your country!this is a nice landscape, I like these plants in the foreground and also that mountain in the background with its top covered by the clouds. The house is a very good detail also. Colours are very good!

Excellent composition and capture. I love the inclusion of the grasses in the foreground. You did a great job capturing them without losing the focus of the mountains in the background. I'm jealous, because I can never seem to pull of these kind of shots--my camera only goes to f/8. Wonderful job.

Hi Atousa,

Beautiful and serene. The greens speak nicely against the dark clouds .. I am torn on the foreground. On one hand the grasses help create depth and a near focus . on the other hand they obscure the beautiful reflection .. very nice image.

A beautiful and nicely composed nature scene with inclusion of FG grass layer working well, nice water texture and shine and heavy sky on top of the hills... It seems there is a bit of a red cast in the clouds, so i reduced the red channel of about 2 points in a WS.. hope you like it!

Hello Atousa,

What a beautiful place and how well you caught it ! I love those moody skies, the special ambiance that is created thereby. Your composition is very attractive with the leaves of grass in the front, and the different layers of calm and limpid water, gentle land, hills and finally that sky...all in great balance and subtle colours and neatness.
Siolaw has a good eye and made a good workshop, from which I learn.

The plants in FG are a good starting point, leading nicely the viewer to the lake and mountains. The luminosity and water texture are just great and I also like the dramatic sky, adding more atmosphere to the scene.
