Photographer’s Note
This is the beautiful view of Mt Rainier seen from Highway (7) as you come into Elbe, WA. The weather conditions weren't great that day with a lot of low cloud. Luckily a gap in the clouds appeared over the mountain during my drive in, so I decided to stop by the side of the road and give it a go.
My exposure was according to the light over the mountain so it left the foreground very dark.I removed the foreground shadows in PP and this was the result.....I would be happy to know what you think.
A great weekend to all!

Hello David,
I do the same thing with exposure for a landscape like this because the main thing is to avoid overexposure. It works well for this photo. There is no noticeable noise & effect of noise reduction. The mountain & clouds is a little overexposed (maybe via PP). This is a nice composition with different layers of vegetation & colors. I like the grass as your foreground. Regards. Latiff.

Bonjour David,
impressionnant ce Mont Rainer,
un des fleurons des Rocky Mountains.
Sa blancher par rapport au reste témoigne de sa hauteur et aussi de son éloignement, alors qu'il parait si près.
J'aime beaucoup le ciel.
Best regards.
Daniel.

Beautiful scene, I like the snow-covered mountain, the sky with those clouds, the fir-trees and the green field.

Hi David,
hi David,
In spite of the bad weather, you managed a unique view of this mountan as you will see if you check out the theme to which I have posted it. I think the contrast betwwen the foreground and the mountain and sky gives a real feeling for the area.
So while you were on my side of the pond, I was on yours. We have to plan our trips better; we often get up to the NorthWest. It would have been fun to meet you. HLJ, Pat

Hi David,
Wonderful composition .. you did a great job keeping the contrast in a nice range as you raised the shadows ... did you shoot in RAW? I sometimes layer different EV settings from the RAW file in this situation.
take care,
John

Hi David,
I like the layers in this photo. The layers growing from darker to lighter ones is treat to watch. Nice moody capture.

Hello David -
Yup, that's Mt. Rainier! Stands out like a sore thumb when you can see it. What I really like about this image is the layering that you have developed. It really makes the image work. IMO, the grass area is the one area where noise is still evident so I think I would crop it so only a small portion shows just before the trees. Anyway, well done and seen.
Thank you for sharing.

David,
A great capture of Mount Rainier. It is definitely a sight to see and the scale is not understood until you see it in person. Looks like you had fairly good weather to be able to see it so clearly - you were lucky.
Nicely seen and captured,
Brian

Hi David,
A wild and spectacular landscape very well caught in your setting.
The great covered with snow mountain in background, and the relief of the area that is increasing brightness in a scale of gray up to coming to the forest and the tree in foreground, with the grass and the green tones, they form a very nice composition and with very much aesthetic effect. The soft colors help to create a very agreeable image at sight.
Great shot.
Best regards,
Josep

HI David,
nice work here, with good layered composition, and good exposure. The mountain is truly magnificent, although I regret to have seen it only from the plane and also from the city of Seattle, and not so nearby and personal.

David,
a great landscape shot with Mt. Rainier dominating the view in the backdrop. The light management is right and the additional PP work balances it out even better, however I would recommend you to get a ND grad filter for such moments were the sky is ready to be overexposed.
Regards, Peter
