Photographer’s Note
Another rag-collector, whom has been asking me to take her picture for some time now. The community is absolutely massive - the conditions are cramped and noisy. Houses are tiny...perhaps just 11ft squared. Children are everywhere and they know how to make their presence felt. They are generally well-behaved children...unfortunately, many of the boys grow up to be jerks as is it is difficult for them to find the aspiration for achievement when their day-to-day lives are so monotonous and almost meaningless...

women > motherhood > domesticity > and that divided into work > the balancing act ...all comes together...the shot, to me,excels in its own simplicity...great continuation of your series...

This seems sooo descriptive, and the living Madonna is so beautiful. I love the different tones of blue and the contrast with the warm yellow light in the interiror of the house. I never get this type of colours and contrast with the kit lens. Of course, i do understand you post process your images in a certain way, but what's the exact effect of the filter mentioned in your camera details (Skylight 1B), in the whole process ?

Nice street shot! The collective pose is good, very natural but also classic. I also like the placement of the door, which gives one side of the frame in darkness and the other side light - very interesting and it works visually. Excellent work!

Kajal,
La composition est parfaite, je trouve, on ne doit pas être bien loin du nombre d'or! quant à la scène et aux expressions, toutes différentes, elles sont saisies d'une manière remarquable. Félicitations et merci pour le partage!

Hi Kaj, well this answers my quesiton of the other day, you're obviously still there (have you extended your stay). A classic one of yours, obviously having gained the confidence of your subjects here. The project seems to be working out.

Hi Kaj. Not to sound too critical, but this is just OK. The composition is fine, but I think you are a little too far away and I wish the woman was looking somewhere else; doesn't have to be at the camera, but where here eyes are now aren't the best to me. Not bad at all, but not near as good as most of your other shots.

Hi Kajal!
there is so much to see i nthis scene! the colors for a start are so harmonious! Also the smiles of the two kids are in such contradiction with the austere and serious look, sad maybe, of the woman. Is she their mother? This shot is brilliant!
congrats for the overall project on these people!

Kaj,
I can see where Darren is coming from but i think you needed a little space between you and the faimly to show the scene in its full context. The family and the house. I love that blue and the warm light inside. Not as intimate as some of your others but still a good shot and adds another facet to this wonderful series.
Cheers
Peter

Once again a great image showing the conditions, and again a nice link between the womans clothing and the scene around her.

Your note is more than useful and the photo is just perfect - dignity but difficult life, sobriety (is this English ?)...
Congratulations,
Cath.
(I'll add this photo to my theme too)

A languid scene, austere in spite of the vibrant color. The detail through the door in the dark room is a nice touch.

Now that you feel a bit better with a smile on your face [btw, anytime you need one, just ring a bell... :)] let me catch up with you last pictures I missed while I was away in bella Italia.
I don't agree Darren regarding the composition, but probably we have two different ways of looking at the same scene. I love your composition and to me you used every inch of the available frame to place every element is its right place: the full door, the poster on the left, the protective shadow on the top, the caring madonna and the shiny bowl on the bottom left. It couldn't be better in my opinion. The blues all around are marvelous. I like the way people interact here. The two kids on the floor teasing their mother, the mother absent look, the standing kid looking at you. For me it's a great scene in a blissful color rendition. I like it.
