16 February 2007, The Beaches, Toronto

A man walks his dogs at dusk along the beaches that line the shore of Lake Ontario in east Toronto.

A follow up to my Australian beach shot from a few days ago--Beach Dog--despite being so far apart Canada and Australia are remarkably similar societies but operate in completely different contexts.

Often it felt like I was living in an alternate reality while over there; there weren't too many direct links with home in eastern Canada.

A formal start to a short series, which as you may suspect, features dogs that I have come across in my travels. Check out the theme to see the others.

Mike,
An interesting theme im sure Simon (Flydragon) would have appreciated it!! I really like the way that you linked this to your Aussie shot. IT has the tilt going the opposite way and of course extreme weather differences. It has a really similar outdoor society feel which i think reflects both cultures.

A great follow up to your previous shot Mike, I could see these two photos working very well with each other side by side in a gallery. Great blur on the dogs showing how frantic and excited they are, the suns a nice touch.

Great shot, Mike, much in your vein, the standpoint far above the scene, with a pleasing perspective created by the wide angle. At first I thougth it was by Dow's Lake, remember our frozen outing? The dogs look wild and unruly, indeed not giving the impression of being "pets" per se.
I like your idea of this "doggy show", also a good tribute to our friend Simon :-)
