Photographer’s Note
"[T]his thing of darkness I
Acknowledge mine."
--from The Tempest by Shakespeare
With still hardly any buds out on trees, I took this simple shot on a neighbouring street the other week. (These days there's just no end to rain... a different tempest...)

so my dear sasa has been in the "shadows mood" lately...:-) good one - looks as if the tree was trying to scare the by-passer and grab his or her by the shoulders...scary spring out there in ottawa...

Another ghost haunting your steps like a ray of sunshine piercing through the rain curtin. So simple and yet so elaborated like beauty only can be.

Sasa,
The shadow of the tree is quite scary reminds me of the Ents from Lord of the Rings. Great framing and i love the shadows as always.
Cheers

Another nice shot of shadows Sasa. What you bring to them is a fantastic b/w ,ethod that really amazes me. Such contrasts and tones, and they alsways match the mood you are setting with your subjects.

The tree looks like a metallic robotic hand, holding the air that weights on the human subject. Exposure is really good and so are the patterns and textures. Like how the tempest is approaching from the bottom right. Just don't know what to make of the object in the opposite corner...

Hi Sasa,
The tree reminds me the trees we can see in Tim Burton's movies... a bit scary indeed.
Beautiful work on shadows and light... Perfect!
Take care
Fred

Love your play with shadows again, a real classic Sarolta image. Really do like the way the shadows reproduce whats happening in the 'real world'. Perfect b&w work as usual.

Light -shadow. Good - bad. Action - reaction. Positive - negative
The nature's law. Without these there is no creation.
You know this very well and you show it in most of your photos.
Another one great picture from you, Sarolta, with the eternal fight between light and shadow. And as always combined with certain magic words with thinkings which come out straight from the soul.
My warm regards
Kostas

I think of rainbows while watching this photo... Why so? Dont know, but maybe I get the inspiration for this misterious shapes that makes you figure out what it is but at the same time allows me to create fantasies... Quite scary a bit at the same time. Take care Sasa.

it somehow reminds me of those large baobabs shadows... just close your eyes, listen to the far away donkey braying, the guinea fowls squawking and feel the evening sun warm up your back... and you 'll be transported to eternal africa... enjoying the shade of this chief's baobab! :-) LOL
i'd call this, lunacy illuminating our everyday routine for an instant;-)

A striking abstraction...the gnarled shadows of the tree is haunting. Your reference is profound. Why does so much weigh us down in this crisp morning in Spring?
