Photographer’s Note

The Reichstag is Germany's parliament building, situated close to the Brandenburg Gate in the city. Originally built in the 1890's, it was destroyed by fire in 1933 (which Hitler blamed on Communists in order to increase support for the Nazi's).

The building was restored after World War 2, but after German reunification it was chosen to once again host the country's parliament, and English architect Lord Norman Foster was chosen to design the new dome, which was completed in 1999.

Taken from the floor of the dome (which is reached by elevator from the ground level) the interior is lit by natural light from the glass roof & a collection of mirrors create the reflective effect seen here. It's visually stunning, and it's free to visit - although there's often a long queue to get in (I visited at 9 am and avoided the worst of it).

This shot gave me a lot of trouble in post-processing, I've had to make it quite small in order to get it down to under 200kb!
