Photographer’s Note

I trekked in Sangla Valley in district Kinnaur in Himachal Pradesh, India, in the summer of 1996 with a group of my school students.
In this picture, we are just approaching Chitkool -- the last frontier on Indo-Tibetan (now Chinese) border. Chitkool is located at the far end of Sangla Valley at an altitude of nearly 11000 feet. It is the last human habitation in the valley.
It is a lovely verdant valley through which flows the river Baspa seen in the picture.
It is a scanned image.
