Photographer’s Note
Last month when i visited Darvish khan and his stone garden in a village called Balvard, i was very
excited to see him who was an old deaf-and-dumb shepherd and also his abstract artworks which were
a sign of his great imagination.
His eagerness to show his works and explain about them-although to establish communication with him
was not easy- could interest any visitor.
The trunks and branches of dry trees were the basis of his stone garden and on these trees, he used to
connect different shapes of stones to any other objects or even dead animals he might find where he was
living.
He had a description for each of those decorated trees and by nodding -specially to the sky and then to
his artworks- he was trying to share his thoughts and imaginations.
Unfortunately i heard of his death last week and decided to introduce him and his stone garden. In my
next post ,i will send his own picture while he was trying to explain about one of his art works.

Hi Atousa,
Very intresting subject, I don't undrestand what is the background of this idea to create a Stony fruit on vacant garden, but this photo background is great and meaningful enough to say hope and sky kind to every type of garden.
nice shot,
thanks for sharing

An intriquing place and one which has alot of character. The man sounds like an interesting one and you are lucky to have talked to him and met him.
Good shot with the blue sky. I would have preferred if you had gotten closer to one of the stone trees so I could see it better. Otherwise a good shot.

Very interesting and nice late hommage to this unique shepard called Balvard. The image has an eerie look and reminds me in my phantasies of Medusa's frontyard. What a weird way to do Art.
Difficult to opiniate about composition not knowing the place better. It could have been interesting to get closer to a tree with stones and use it as a foreground. Another technical detail to improve your shot would be using a polarizing filter. It is amazing how much such filter changes everything. From all filters in the world, this is the most important one. Try it!!!
Cheers, Peter

Hmmm... He put the weigths from his soul to bee free and hang on the dead trees to keep...
You did good job!

I just discovered your portefolio...
What a strange place!! What an interesting person! I just try to imagine from your picture this place in an apparently very remote place, with this old man... brrrr, how strange. the wide angle and the big part of sky enhances the feeling of solitude and surrealism.
makes me think of the american-indian cemetary that you can see in the famous movie "Jeremiah Johnson"
have a nice day

Hi Atousa,
It is always nice to have a shot with a story and this is no exception. I like his personal expression in these artworks and this installation in the open and the great looming clouds tells of the greatness of this unsung artist. A well taken shot. It would be interesting to see how it looks like from a higher POV. Well done!!
Regards and a great weekend.

Hi Atousa,
A very unique place you have captured here. I like the way the trees seem to interact with the cloud. I didn't realize there were so many "plants" in his garden. TFS.

Salam Atousa
A fine tribute to Darvish who created this work of art. I went through your note with Peter & was initially with him that perhaps you could have gone for a closer approach. But as you said, the wide aspect of the entire 'creation' and the dominant clouds makes this attractive. In the lack of a polarising filter you could use 'Selective Colour' in PS2 and use the Black slider in cyan or blue to get the polariser effect. Do try it & let me know
Best Regards
