Photographer’s Note
This was just a random Sadhu (Hindu Holy Man) I met while crossing the Kugti Pass in Lahaul Valley. The guy in the red pants is a very good friend of mine and was also my fantastic guide for the trek. Other people sitting and standing around the Sadhu were the Nomads from that area.
This photo was taken at Kugti pass and you can see that Sadhu's Chela (disciple) smoking chillam ... We offered the sadhu some Rum which he was very thankful for. Sadhu told me that this was the toughest trek that he had done while wandering in the Himalayas for the past 10 years, he was originally from Ahmedabad in Gujarat ... a plain area with very warm temperatures.
This was relatively a very hard trek where I had to cross glaciers, torrential streams ... but it was a very rewarding trip.
Thanks a lot for your motivation my friends. You guys from TE are very much on my mind ... but there are many things happening in my life that takes precedence right now .... Thanks again for your wonderful support.

Sarju this is a very interesting picture at such high point. The mountain walls on the background look very steep and impressive yet the social aspect of the image is what grabs my attention. Good colours and details.

Hi Sarju,
This is such an interesting image which we are lucky to be able to share with you....not something that we city-goers would experience. The gathering of these people on such a high place, with the impressive mountains in the background has created a fantastic image...Well done.
Cheers Grant

Hello Sarju -
Welcome back it's been a long time. This is a very nice image. Kind of fits in with everyones impression of meeting a holy man at the top of a high mountain (15,000+ feet, wow!). I like how you have incorporated a number of trekers in the image rather just a portrait of the Sadhu, this really gives the image life and a real sense of place. Well done!
Thank you for sharing

Hi Sarju
You can count on me to kickstart you anytime.
This is what I like about your trip, new vision, different people and a new perspective on life in this area.India is very versatile, culturally speaking,to my occidental eyes, very exotic.
Friendship, spontaneous,in a very difficult place. Two groups meeting along the trail and taking the time to share...
Good pOV on a narrow path, showing the group set against the steep cliff, awesome place.
Must have been a memorable meeting.
The setting shows how important social contact is in a difficult environment.
A powerful picture.
Happy to see that you are doing fine.

Hellooooo Sarju! How did I miss this one????
It's great, super, exciting and I just want to be there with you guys - although I never had been in such a high altitude (only 5100m). Amazing scenery, exotic atmosphere from the people, so well placed in the composition. I really would love to see more of this here, mate.
All the best to your life,
Ricardo

Hi Sarju
I hope you like your new job, most important. Fine to see you found the time to post this one, a good compo with one man aside but on top you give the feel to be there together with these men, is it by the natural colors or the natural way they are sitting together, I suppose both enhance the feel and confirmed with the note, as it is, a relief to see that a scene can still pull all attention forgetting even the maker for a moment, excellent.

Dear Sarju,
Now this is different. To see this colorful and characteristic group of yours against the gray and white background of the mountain, is attractive enough to ponder and read on this work. A well done piece for an adventure story Sarju

Hi Sarju,
A great capture of this interesting group of people. Their bright colours stand out so well from the barren landscape beyond. I love the mountain in the background.
Tks for stopping by my gallery.
