Photographer’s Note
This is Seaman's Hut, one of the many huts in the Kosciuszko area.
"Also known as Laurie Seaman Memorial Hut or Seamans Memorial Chalet.
Located on the Summit road, about two thirds of the way to the summit of Kosciusko, above the Snowy River. The Grid Reference is 149652 and a GPS position is available.
Brief History
This hut was built in 1929 by the NSW Tourist Bureau, having been financed by the American parents of Laurie Seaman. Seaman with Evan Hayes, perished in a blizzard on 14 August 1928.
Seaman was found on 9 September, very near to the current hut site, where he had waited for Hayes. Hayes body was found above Lake Cootapatamba, lying on his skis. The spot is marked by a cairn.
The hut was renovated after a fire in 1938, and has saved the lives of countless people since.
Construction
The hut is 7m by 3m in the interior and consists of two rooms. The walls are massively built of granite stones, and lined with fibro. The floor is wooden and the walls are pierced by small windows. A wood stove is installed, despite a scarcity of firewood. The roof is made of flat iron sheets." - (http://www.kosciuskohuts.org.au/Hut Profiles KNP/Profile Seamans.htm)
******************************************
"The huts in the high country were built by stockmen, prospectors, recreational fishermen, skiers and the Snowy Mountains Hydro-electric Authority to meet their accommodation, shelter, recreational and hydrology needs at the time. Many of these huts have been lost through fire and decay, but around120 of them still remain. These are now cared for co-operatively by KHA and the Park Services." -http://www.kosciuskohuts.org.au/history.html)

Beautiful setting, it gives me a feeling of solitude. The colors are very natural and nice. I like it very much

Hallo Claudia!
This seems to be built for eternity and it looks rather cosy! These refuges are also very common here in the Alps. Thank you for showing and the interesting note!
Greetings from Germany - and have a nice week!

Hello Claudia,
Nice composed view, with a good and clear subject, that's sometimes missing on your pictures, the way is well placed as diagonal.

Hi Claudia
A great photo very well taken and one that brings back great memories.
I have spent the night in this hut during adventure training when I was in the Army.
It was in November yet there was still large patches of snow around and we woke to a very heavy frost.
It has changed little since '86.
Thanks for sharing
Regards
Peter

Hi Claudia,
Can't knock your composition - spot on. Great DOF I like the way the rocks in the path and the hut are all in focus.
I think you have a slight blue colour cast on your image.
Cheers
Jamie.
