Photographer’s Note
No blue suede shoes here, just some young rockabilly's clad in black from tip to toe. Add to that the generator power supply, the large stereo system, the hair dryers and the hairspray they lugged with them for this little gathering and you have yourself a rockabilly rockout in the park. It is quite common to see these guys gathering (usually small groups of 5-10) on weekends for a little dance session in the park.
So what is rockabilly - quite possibly a hard term to pin down. In simplest words, it's a blend of blues, country and gospel sounds of American music that were prevalent, up to the mid 1950's. Mixed with a heavier beat by a host of recognizable names like Elvis, Ricky Nelson, Johnny Cash, and Jerry Lee Lewis to get your start. These are just some of the names of rockabilly artists most people have heard.

Nice one, Brendon - we've got the same lot at Yoyogi Koen in Tokyo every Sunday afternoon, the Greaser'S Ball so to speak... I've taken a couple of shots of these fellas in the past. I like your sepia treatment a lot and your control and focus.
Well seen,
Francis

Hi Brendon
Interresting topic that remembers me of the old TV shows when I was younger, not a fad that I witnessed by the way.
I can not imagine the amount of time these guys are staying in front of a mirror, just to get their look OK.More then me anyway.
A slice of life in Japan.Curious how they have adopted the american look...
Have a good evening

Hi Brendon,
Excellent shot. I like the composition and the sepia tone. The image of the man on the righ is so sharp, we can really appreciate all the details and the texture of his cloths... And the blur man on the left entering with similar look really balance the composition. Great capture!
