Photographer’s Note

A young girl in Dayak ceremonial dress - it is worth loooking at the detail - the claws and teeth in the head dress, the beading in the head dress and clothing and the hornbill feathers in her hands.
I have attended Dayak festivals in the upper Mahakam River and in the Apo Kayan in Borneo, but this photo was taken at Pampang near Samarinda. Pampang is a bit of a display village of Dayak culture for tourists, but well worth trip on Sundays when plenty of dancing takes place.
