Photographer’s Note
I spent most of the day exploring the Nihon-ji temple complex when I found this pile of "stuff." My first thought was "snow drift" but since it was quite warm, I knew it wasn't possible. So I thought maybe it was a rubbish pile. When I got closer I found that this mound of stuff was really a pile of small carved figures upon which people wrote their names and wishes for things such as good health and placed here as offerings. Yesterday I uploaded a close-up view.
