Photographer’s Note

The Llanganuco - Santa Cruz trek is about the most popular in the Cordillera Blanca, and is quite fantastic. I have done it twice, starting from Llanganuco and ending in Cashapampa. It about 4 days walk and as long as you can carry enough food its quite possible to do without a guide or donkeys. Its usually rated at moderate, but it still starts with a climb of around 1000m with full packs starting at about 3800m so its quite hard work. There are some campsites, but I think we must have been a little out of season as they were all empty, we only saw a couple of other trekkers. There are some amazing wild camping spots around as well.

Stunning alpine scenary David. I had my cam stolen when I was in Peru back in the day. So, I don't have any images from the trecks I did down there. So, I'm delighted to see such a well composed pic on TE. The vivid colours and the perspective capture the grand scenary very well. Can almost feel the crisp mountain air!

I like that intense blue sky, and the way it contrasts with the snow covered peak. Looks like you had some great weather, and I hear that it can be quite cloudy there because it is close to the equator. Beautiful shot and informative too!

Great sky color and excellent depth. Is it the moon over there? I like the contrasting parts of the photo.

J'aime beaucoup l'immensité qui se dégage de cette photo. Je pense d'ailleurs que le chemin qui serpente sur la gauche ajoute de la "dimension".
Les couleurs et la netteté sont remarquables.
