Photographer’s Note

This is a photo taken in Shelbourne Park, one of the main greyhound racing parks in Ireland.

Not an easy photo to take. Flash photography isn't allowed (don't want to disturb the dogs), and the inside stand was quite dark. So, using ISO 1600 this is the result. I do like the colour and motion though.

Shelbourne Park is a great venue for a night out, especially with a good group. We went with a group from work.

Hi Paul - it's a good result, considering the distance from the action & the difficult lighting conditions you were working against. But you have captured the speed & action quite well here as the dogs race out of the traps. The colours are pretty good too.

That's the decisive moment!you make regret a bit more to have missed that races...the 1/200 is just enough to froze the dogs!

Great action shot Paul, and especially with no flash. The dog in the blue coat got a good start! And I hope you didn't put your money on the red-coated one - he's looks a bit slow!
So, if you can't use a flash, it's best to go for a high ISO??

Very difficult shot whith good results. It seem that Canon is better that my Nikon d70 whith high iso. For me it is impossible to work whith 1/200 and 1600 iso. you have catch the perfect moment to shot. Hallo Luca
