Photographer’s Note
One more scanned picture to fill my map.
As I said earlier, whenever I'm at a beach I like to stick my head in the water to see what is below there. After my vacation to the Dominican Republic where I started snorkeling we went to Hurghada, Egypt mainly for the sun 30 degrees Celcius all year round. The surroundings there are a pain if you love green. There is just desert and even the hotels don't have large gardens as water is really a treasure there.
But the underwater world is "yahooooo big time" a wonder :) Wonderful corals and fish of all kind. I bought a book about fish in the Red Sea, then when coming back from snorkeling I marked all the fish in that book that I have seen during my snorkeling adventures. At the end of the week almost all pictures were marked, except for the shark picture :)
Here you see the Masked Butterflyfish.
When such colorful butterflyfish are seen they almost force the delighted photographer to take a picture. Half of the butterflyfish found here occur only in the Red Sea. These diurnal mobile swimmers feed on coral polyps or drifting zooplankton. Only one species, the giant butterflyfish, exceeds 20cm. They are usually to be found in a depth from 5 to 30 meters.
Please take a look at the corresponding above water picture.

Lovely photo Jan - wonderful shapes and colours. THE most amazing and fantastic thing I ever did was to snorkel on the Great Barrier Reef off Queensland, Aust. Unfortunately I didn't get any photos. If you've never been there, try to make it. I think you'd love it.

Very highly coloured shot for these "lovers". It must be hard to take a so well framed picture under water. Very beautiful !

A smiley for you for this rare kind of shot. Very good colors and since your subjects are in motion, it must have been a difficult job composing them. Good shot.

wonderful shot here, it is a bit grainy, but the pair of yellow tropical fish are superb, really well captured and great composition

Jan, I don't think I've seen a lot of underwater shots on TE yet, so this is already an initial asset of your picture here ;-) But even more so, the colors are really adorable, as is the way the different elements are arranged in your frame. I understand how those yellow fish would give you a strong urge to take their picture. A very pleasant shot, accompanied by a first-rate note. Good job!

I love your honesty about filling the map. I think a couple of us have been down that road. And in the end we always come back, don't we? I still prefer your Hamburg scenes.

Very nice colors. These fish are so bright. It's a whole different world underwater. And this is a very nice detail of it. I like the downward angle of the fish, matching the coral. A nice line through the image. Very nicely done.

Very nice picture.
If You want more green and still want to admire breathtaking corals and fishes try Sharm Asz-szeih or Naam Bay on Sinai peninsula :)
Knowing how hard to take good picture underwater I must say really good job.
BTW What was your first thought when You first time went underwater in Hurghada? My was "Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God, it's so beautiful" :))
Take care
