Photographer’s Note
The Buddhist caves of Ellora are no longer considered "living" caves: Buddhists do not come here anymore to meditate or live or worship their gods. They have not, for the last few centuries. This person is perhaps the sole exception. He is a singular individual in the vast world of rock-cut caves who still offers his daily prayer to Buddha. i caught him in the act.
He cut a rather lonely figure amid the expanse of rock, but perhaps he isn't as lonely as most of us.

Hi Bishan,
I like this picture. Its very spiritual in character. The darkness in the composition is very good to create a more solemn atmosphere. Very well done.

Hi Bishan,
I like this contemplative mood of your image. But I learned that Buddhists don't pray to Budhha as he is their teacher, but not their God. So he might meditate.
Back to your image. I like the emptyness of your image. The light is superb.
Maybe not an image for the masses, but of quality.

Hey Bishan,
I think I might have preffered a wider angle on this one, to really make use of that light which is coming in from the right... I think this may have had more effect for me. As it stands, I like that you can see detail in that rock, but I would like to have got a better feeling for his small presence in this large space.....
