Photographer’s Note
In October 2005, I've already showed you several pictures from the ceremonial changing of the guard which was reinstated by the Russian Government from April 2005 and now I would like to continue sharing some of my best shots from this famous ceremony at this year too...
At 2 pm on the last Saturday of each month from April to October you can see this famous ceremony right on the Red Square for free! For your information: to see it inside Kremlin you have to pay for entrance about 13 USD, plus 20 USD if you would like to see it from VIP places. From my experience, I can say that it is better to pay more.. or it will be big problem to see whole ceremony, because of its popularity. As I told you, that on the Red Square, this ceremony is for free officially... so that, it is better to came here in advance to book good place for yourself...
During this day I walked with my client from Brazil, he is lawyer and works on Brazilian government, inside the Kremlin and its museums. Of course we planned to see this ceremony, but... as usual not enough spare time for all stuff and we came to see this ceremony right when the show was started... of course, it was not any free space around.. We run and fortunately found some place nearby GUM, opposite the Kremlin walls.. this ceremony goes on the south side of the Red Square, between St. Basil and Lenin's tomb, but of course, it was not so convenient for shooting, because of a lot people in front of us... and I decided to ask the people who were in the front row to let me making pictures from their row, but to not disturb their views I had to sit down on the bricks of the Red Square...
During this ceremony you can see a dozen saber-bearing cavalry officers of the Kremlin Regiment, in tall hats and czarist military uniforms adorned with gold buttons, yellow tassels and epaulets.. Impressive, isn't it???

Yes, it is a very impressive uniform. Really colorful and sharp looking. Reminds me of the uniform the Carabinieri wear in Italy. Not the same colors...but very sharp looking.

Very impressive Arthur. The uniforms and the ceremony AND the horse! I love his yellow leg wrappings, colour co-ordinated to the golden tassles on the soldier's hats. It is a pity you were behind the horse, but we still manage to get to see what is happening. And actually sitting on the ground gives you an great POV. Well done my friend,
Janice

Nice pic. Good that you have captured the horse and the person completely. I love horses.

Looking at this photo is like looking at a window through time. I wish the horseman had been facing you but this is not bad either, especially when you see the others marching in formation in the background. That combination works well.

Hi Arthur,
the best feature of this shot of yours is the dynamism you were able to capture. The horse gives the idea to be ready to spring in a second. Also the saturated colours add life to the shot. Congratulations, Dario
