Photographer’s Note
Rosa on the street:
I was out & about very early that morning in Manila, and passed Rosa at 6:30am as she was sleeping here, where I photographed her here, taking her breakfast at 8:30am.
I had known Rosa & her brother Edison since 2003, and knew they were poor, but this was the first time I'd realized they were homeless.
I was stunned & sad - I'd always known Rosa to be happy & playfull when I saw her with Edison & their friends on the street, so at 6:30am while she was sleeping, I went to the local 7-11 and bought some butter-bread - placing it in a paper bag & leaving it at her feet so she'd see it when she awoke.

Good work, Paul - great shot and very sweet of you to leave the food.
It always amazes me how much joy many Filipinos are able to take from life, despite their circumstances.
Good sharpness considering the exposure time - nice composition.
Congratulations

Paul, that is a touching commentary. Appreciate what you do for them. This is a compelling foto as a foreigner sees it thru his eyes. they say our trait whether good or misuded is our "resilience". i suppose they do not know any other way but to smile at their circumstance. again mabuhay.
