Photographer’s Note
Gemilar Island is situated very close to Olu Deniz (the most photographed beach in Turkey) and the original Santa Claus aka St Nicholas spent part of his life on this island. There are many ancient ruins of churches and other buildings which date back to the Byzantine era and the views from the top are stunning. A wonderful myth of Gemiler describes an albino princess for whom a tunnel was built from the hilltops down to the ocean, so that she could bathe without the sun attacking her pale skin. The tunnel is still there, the remains of which can be seen here.

Nice composition of a fascinating place.
I assume the water in the photo surrounds the Gemilar Island, making it very close to another land mass? Forgive me, I do not know this geography that well. Or is the water way dividing the island and leading to an ocean?
I esp like the ruin on the lower left. You almost have two shots here with the ruins being one of them.
I tried a workshop, just to enhance the contrast to the way i would like to see it. Of course, your natural shot of the landscape is more convincing...
I like many of the photos in your collection, Russell.
