Photographer’s Note
This is my contribution to the growing number of pictures of fields of rape present on TE. There are some large areas of rape fields mostly prominent in the soutern part of Sweden, actually only a five minutes drive outside my town, but ironically I took this picture in the outskirts of Lejre a small village situated 7 km south of Roskilde, Denmark.

Hi Christian
I like your simple composition with the big layer of flowers, a thin layer of trees and another of sky. The flowers in the foreground are so sharp.

Hi christian.
Very nice colors. I think it would be better to improve it in photoshop with cutting bottom to make panoramatic picture, and there is still rule of third.I try to photo some rape field here but i didnt find so nice scene as you did.
well done

Well done, for instances i though "Norbert did it again"... if you don't know Norbert have an infamous photo with over 200 points of a fanstastic field like this
This gets second place because i think it lacks focus a bit in foreground.

Those photos are hard to come right. There is very few things to keep the eyes ocupied, so everything must be right.
And this is the case here. The picture is all about its color. The beauty of the great yellow field is achived by its contrast with the less vivid sky.
The horizont line is perfect, and those trees on the back of the composition are wonderful.
Also I most praise your DOF, it was perfect for that photo. I like how focus is slowly loosed as the picture get's more deph (but just a bit).
Great Shot! Congratulations!

Hi Christian, A nice looking of a sea of the yellow flowers. I like the way you played with the DoF to show the clear image of the flowers in the foreground and the fused blur all yellow image with the distance.

Superb colours Christian. The dark sky emphasises the brilliant of the rape flowers. Well composed, thank you,

So simple, so colorful, so nice. I would like to break the layers with something - a person, a verhicle, or an animal. But still the amazing yellow wins - nice shot.

Wwwooooaaaahhh!!!
Never enough of yellow fields, especially when shot superbly like this one, with an excellent DOF (love these blurred trees behind!) and frightening dark clouds as a backdrop.
Top noch contrast and... congratulations, Christian!

Hi Christian,
We see a lot of the rapefields these days, but this one has something special.
There are only three colour tones, which ends up with a very strong composition in colours. I like that a lot....great work..!!!

Very well done, Christian. The dark clouds in the distance, with brighter light in the foreground, is the perfect setting for this. You've created a very nice balance of colors. One of the best things about being in northern Europe at this time of year is seeing these fields from the train or the highway.
The unfortunate name "rapeseed" may be one reason that the oil from these plants is usually sold as "canola oil" (though I think canola is actually just one variety of rapeseed.)
Regards, Ken.

Hello Christian, this is an incredible contrast between the bright yellow plants and the dark, stormy sky. With an impact this strong, the image doesn't need any other subject.

wow, it´s the "classic" yellow rapefield,
but in such an excellent composition
with the perfect 1/3 - 2/3 distribution! :-)
there are actually only 3 colors - a bright yellow,
the green of the trees in the middle and the dark
dramatic sky - did you get wet?
well seen & captured, thor.

Hello, Christian. Splendid contrast between the yellow rape and the dark sky. The row of trees in the middle prevents the contrast being too harsh and provides an interesting buffer between the two main parts of the picture.

Hello Christian,
Simplistic if any!
I'm an admirer of this kind of images, as they look simple and easy to do... When the fact is they are everything but easy to do!
Three simple colour layers, not much in shapes... All put together in a very pleasant way... Well done!

Hi Christian,
you brought us another outstanding seasonal shot here...i like the proportions very much, the dark blue sky as a background & the bright almost reflecting light you did capture on those fields...it all made this image standing a way ahead of other colza shots on TE...compliments...cheers, arturo

I've seen a lot (perhaps too many) pictures of yellow fields on TE, but yours is an excellent example of the genre. You've reduced it to two basic elements; land and sky. What makes this a cut above the rest is that dark moody sky, a good contrast with the yellow rape.

Hi Christian!
Great colors!... the yellow is really strong and contrasty agains the dark blue sky...
Even so, I think that this photo would be much better is you used a greater depth of field, so that the trees in the horizont line would be in focus... but this is just my oppinion as I know that to many this DOF is good. That's a matter of taste...
