Photographer’s Note
The Hydrangia could be a trademark flower for describing the Açores. Everywhere you go in the Azores this flower grows like weeds in the perfectly rich volcanic soil. It makes the journey through the countryside and hills simply idylic. The blue variety is especilly magnificent due to the acidic volcanic soil. Although they are for sale as the Endless Summer Hydrangia, a marketing campaign like no other flower has had, they are very difficult to grow in the soil here in Minnesota without special treatment.
