Photographer’s Note
For this special occasion, I make a small sidestep from my Tibet travelogue series.
Just like last year (see this picture, taken exactly one year ago), the first days of March brought us quite a lot of snow in The Netherlands. And that made me very happy, because I really love snow and ice and until now we had not seen much of it in our city of Delft this year.
When I cycle to work, I always pass a couple of large weeping willow trees and this day they looked beautiful. The sky was completely clouded, but a faint sun was visible through the clouds. I tried to find a nice point of view to include this little spot of light and took the picture.
P.S. I had not realised it at all, but Claire pointed me at the fact that this is my 100th picture on TE, so I have a little party today ;-) This number of 100 photos was reached after more than 2 years of presence on TE, so that took me quite long. My other occupations require also a lot of time and therefore I sometimes need to back-off for a while and can't participate as much as I would like to. But I find TE a great place, have learned a lot here - and am still learning - and met very nice people. I hope to stay in this marvellous community much longer and I hope that you will do that too! Best wishes, Michael.

Hello Michael,
Tell me, what is the special occasion? Is it that snow in The Netherlands? Or is it your 100th post? ;-)
I love snow. Better be, since I live in a country where snow is there for many months! And I love weeping wellows! So graceful trees! Your picture is simple, but I also love that kind of simplicity. So, I feel fulfilled! The color of the sky is good!
Well Michael, my congratulations for that 100th post!

Beautifully taken Michael. This weeping willow is holding on to its frozen tears not wanting to let go as it is not the time for weeping, not for your 100th. post! It will choose its time.

Hi Michael,
Thanks for your visit and in your Portfolio I noticed that you like plains and also have this 100th post that is a must of simple and effective resulting approach. Simple and beautiful with snow in a monochrome tone and atmosphere. Your eye catch, perspective and angle approach is very good in a clear, imaginative and creative-artwork post. Good light, contrast and a fine sharpness. Very well seen, done and composed. Did you see my previous 200th post ? It have many beautiful sky. Have a nice week and congratulations.

I like your vertical compo, Michael and congratulation on your 100th post!
This one is very minimalistic and pale colours really bring the mood of winter well!
With my posts I'm trying to convince people that Spring is almost here, but with this one you're holding back!
;-D
Catch ya later,

Hi Michael, congratulations with your number 100!
I love this winter scene, there’s this lack of colors that render that Friday so well. The sun never came through I think, and the light blue sky and the sun that is almost not noticeable, create a quiet mood. What I loved was that the wind was completely gone as well, otherwise there wouldn’t have been so much snow on the trees. Nice!

Nice entry this 100th M. The white willow under the layer of snow is a nice winter detail in the bleached setting. Vertical format good for this compo. Fine detail

Hi Michael
I like the tight crop and the play with light and colors here
The balance is good and not too bright
I also like the dark branches as contrast
Congratulations on the 100th

Hi Michael
Good close-up,the tree is just superb with its new coat. The subdued light is doing wonder for the mood.
Even if winter is long here(and its a good thing),I am never tired of the ephemeral magic that is created in this season.
Thanks for stopping by my post,I am discovering your beautiful country through your eyes.
Have a good day

Hi Michael, Congratulations to your 100th post. It looks like that it was a cold and calm day such that the snow can hang on with the willow as shown in this picture. You have well capture the picture with the sun in the view. Nice contrast and sharpness. Well done.
