Photographer’s Note
So I spent another enjoyable day out in the Lake District today enjoying the winter conditions. I had just climbed up the face to the right of this picture. As I clambered over the cornice I came face to face with a guy and his EOS 20D on a tripod. I had my camera slung over my shoulder as I climbed, clipped to my rucksack with a carabiner as I like to always have it handy. Within yards I bumped into another guy and chatted to him and he noticed my lens. "I have that lens" he said and showed me his 20D. And we discussed the qualities of L series glass. And lastly there was the guy you can see on the left of this picture who was lugging around a Hasselblad on a hefty tripod.
So it seems I am not the only one attracted to the beauty of the Lakeland hills in the snow.
It was beautifully sunny and the sky was wonderfully clear. What I couldn't work out was why I have not seen any of these guys over the last few weeks up there. Although it was a nice day I didn't think the light was as dramatic and the pictures as good as when the skies have been brooding and dark. Is there something they know that I don't? Or do I just go out in all weathers?!

Nice sweeping curve of the crest and the few humans nicely scattered along it. The secong horison is good to have as it brings more info about these mountains.
Just walking, no skiing?
