Photographer’s Note
Hi Folks
I'm back with the last series of the Kek Lok Si Temple, during this Chinese New Year Festival. And as promised, this is the grand view of the overall temple from a distance.
Every landmarks of the Kek Lok Si is included here, the well-know Pagoda, the brightly lited multicolored roof and the new statue of the Godness of Mercy, standing atop the hill, over looking Penang.
So, folks, do enjoy this shot and I'll be back again with this year festival of Thaipusam, with a different view.

Hi Eric Lai, I do enjoy the view you provided here. The highlight of the Buddha is well shown in this picture. I know you don't like to use filters. I think A filter to this picture could bring out more layers.
I did a WS simply to show a little more scenes behind the light. I am not satisfied with my WS. I am post here just for a comparison to show the scene a little more layer.

A warm and colorful graphical impression you have here Eric. Wire framed but with colors, and one could see how pretty involved in setting the lightings on the temple roofing, along the edges of the pagoda, railings and the floodlights.

Hi Eric
The fg is wonderfully sharp, but the standing Buddha at the back, appears blurred. Perhaps an unsharp mask to that area? Good time exposure, with marvellous graphism & contrast. Well done!

Hi Eric, I very much like the way you portray the Kek Lok Si temple with almost only the strings of electrical light. Very well composed too - initially I was thinink that the dark sky on top was a bit to much, but later I saw that it actually plays an essential role in making this very well executed low light capture work.
Fascinating and very good work.
Have a nice week,
Bert

Hi Eric,
Notwithstanding the difficult night picture, have you a splendid shot making of the roofs, the different lights together with the images of statue in background make your picture very attractive.
Thanks, and very well done!
John.

Selamat Pagi Eric,
The graphism of the lower part is wonderful and abundant in fine details, this must really be a superb temple, I like too how you have composed this photo providing a balance with the background statue complex, it works well to me even considering the sharpness issue, actually the sharpness difference between foreground and background is quite amazing considering the f/14 aperture !
Have a nice day,

Hard to understand the perspective and the distance between the two subjects. That makes a good and strange effect.
Almost a mystic compo.

Hi Eric,
A most impressive night shot of the Temple. What is fascinating in addition to all of the fine lines and graphics is the appearance of two complete layers of interest here, with the blackness of the night in between. I love the varying shapes and dancing lights of red and gold. A very fine capture, Eric.

Hi Eric,
With this composition I just could not help to associate the Goddess of Mercy as hovering above Kek Lok See overseeing and protecting the devotees there. I am fascinated by the visual effects of the lights and colours and the festive mood. Wonderful shot!! All good wishes.

Whoa
Nicely captured shot of the Kek Lok Si.
Sometimes seeing it with our eyes are so totally different from what we see in from a photo.
This is a very nicely taken shot.

Hello Eric, thanks for this very interesting series about new year celebration. Impressive large view here, with all the lights on the temple and statue. I'm really amazed at the immensity of it, seeming even more important in the night, I guess.
I had reservations about the dark part at the top, but I see it has already been mentionned and you have answered. Thank you for sharing your part of the world, it's always interesting.

Hi Eric,
What a beatyfull temple! Very nice night shot. That captured all the details of this wonderful temple. I did a smal workshop just to give a more panoramic format to the scene. I hope you don't mind.

Hi Eric - wow, so many lights, shows the outline of the temple remarkably, the statue on top adds to the spiritual atmosphere, well done. Being picky I also would have preferred a lighter sky, yet id does draw more attention to the temple and give it a sense of being suspended in air.
