Photographer’s Note

Very close from the last picture, Pallazzo Ducale is the home of the Doge and the governing council.

The palate of the doges was the political center of the Venetian republic, but also the court and the center of the administration.

The doge, assisted and supervised by the Great Council, directed Venice. The doge was elected with life among the greatest noble families.

The control which the Great Council given on the decisions of the doge made it possible to prevent that this one exerts its authority like a king.

The doge was elected by the Venetian rich person. Only the richest families of Venice take part in the political life of Venice.
