Photographer’s Note

Something different today and a photo that obviously requires some more detail explanations than my usual shots...

First the car: a legend of the French car industry the Citroën DS was first presented in the Paris car exhibition in 1955. During the following two decades it became THE French limousine that was used by all important persons such as the Head of State. In this year 2005 the most important gathering of DS ever realised was organized to celebrate its 50 years.

Then the title: as you can see this DS was transporting freshly married persons, which inspired me this title, considering the car model DS is pronounced in French the same way as the word Deesse. I'm not sure about the exact English word to translate Deesse, think of a person so shining she gets a divine dimension, something appropriate to describe a woman as seen by her husband shortly after marriage... so the title is roughly "In a DS with my 'Deesse' " where the likewise pronunciation balances the sentence as we photographers say so nicely ;-)

Last the shooting conditions: driving up a mountain road I spotted from the distance this car coming down, I just had time to slow down, grab & power my compact camera and hand it out to shoot this scene. The original was far from an artistic work, actually much closer to a tilted horror, but with some PP and a severe crop I could get this view out of it, hope you'll like it and the ageing I gave it, I post the color version in a WS.
