To get up there, take Tramway road from N. Canyon Dr. to Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. It was constructed because of a young electrical engineer named Francis F. Crocker. It was sometimes referred as the eighth wonder of the world because of the engineering challenge; the ingenious use of helicopters in erecting four of the five supporting towers.
