Photographer’s Note
This is Jokhang Temple in the main square at the centre of Lhasa. Each day, three times a day, people gather and walk around the temple a few times, throwing herbs and barley flour into the fires of the two kilns situated outside of the temple. The clockwise movement of people in worship appears to be woven into Tibetans' daily lives.

Nice picture. Your sky could have been a little bit more blue (often blue in Tibet).
When I was there (oct 2000), there was a Chinese policeman (approximatly where you stand to take the picture). He was screaming at the people who where gathering on the place. So the people could only walk through or sit there, but not stant. The reason is that this place is where they where beginning of anti-chinese-protest a couple of years ago. So now, there is this anti-gathering Chinese cop (and a video-camera).

Hi Miroslawa!
A bit washed-out picture, but it DO bring back my feeling for this place. Amazing isn't it??? The people is incredible and so STRONG! Sad about this place and XinJiang as well.
You inspired me with this pic, so i might dig in and scan some of my own tibet-pics too one of these days... :)
Seems you've had a great journey and got some insight into many things!
