Photographer’s Note
this is, in my opinion, one of the best portrait I've ever made.
the move, the gesture, what it means, what it represents, the atmosphere...
everything.
all other words from me, here, are needless.
so here is one of the rare songs that my friend wrote in english, if you would like to enjoy more in his poetry, in portuguese, please take one step further;

STRONG COFFEE
a strong coffee
a cigarette
certain moments
of solitude that's absolute
i listen to a song
i wouldn't want to feel
this moment oh-so-real, i'd like to
forget the "right or wrong"
but this strong
cup of coffee
draws me a fine line
while i take my "ine"
nicotine
caffeine
strong solitude
in a lightly unfelt moment
undecided
unspoken
undenied
but unallowed
ashes
bitter
sugar
burn
a strong coffee
a cigarette
i try to forget
while it slowly ruins me.

Sdravo Ana,
I think that this is in fact ane xcellent portrait, you have caputred an expression full of sensibility typical to a musician, the background with the stairs is really well chosen.
Well done

Good shot overall, but a few things. I really like the expression and I like how you have used fairly strong directional light. However, I find his face to be a little overexposed, I think the shot is a little too centered for my tastes and maybe it could be a little sharper? I like how the stairs area small element of the photo.

Ana, I agree with you.. it is a beautiful personal moment you have here. The saxphonist is relaxed in his nature and it really comes across in the picture...
Love the black and white contrast and the stairs beind him trailing off like smoke from finger tips...
Thanks for sharing...

Great b/w work. I like the pose, he is almost in love with his saxophone. This is a very intimate shot Ana, very introspective.

Hi Ana,
Very nice B/W portrait ! This musician and his saxo are one and your picture shows it very well !
The light is very good with black on top and on bottom to focus on the essential !
Great work !

You are right, Ana, this is a fine portrait, and may well be your best... his expression is of elation and pleasure, the sax is sexy in his hand... you have captured him in this special moment with a lovely play with darks and lights, softness and clarity.
Beautiful!

It is a great portrait- he has an expression on his face that he is quite happy with his music. I like the way the shadow goes up into the horn of saxophone- it kind of brings it all together. The background is perfect for a portrait as well. Good work Ana!

That is a very cool shot. Of course the lighting and the stairs are what really make it cool to me. Very nice. The lighting is harsh but fits the Jazz "underground" scene. :) Great job. JP

Hi Anna, I like this very passionate portrait. This man's love is surely music. He holds his saxophone in such a loving and sexy way, that it seems he's holding the woman of his life! The intimate mood you created with the great light and the stairs as a background, make this a very seductive scene. A lot is said with that one click of your camera! Excellent shot! Sabine

Salut Ana.
J'adore l'attitude de ce musicien et sa position.
Le jeu d'ombre et de lumière et ce décor avec ces escaliers créent une belle ambiance.
Très bon portrait, original.

Hi Ana.
I like very much the use of the light here.
I don't know if is this is the best of your portraits, but what I know is that is really good. Because, more than see the face of that man, the know how is he.
Fantastic.
Regards.
