Photographer’s Note

The hilltop church above the Hora on the Cyclidic island of Folegandros provides stunning views over the town and out to sea. The island was a place of imprisonment for political prisoners of the Greek military junta up until the '70's. And its steep cliffs are not the most welcoming to tourists still, which makes it perfect for peace and quiet and unspoilt scenery and traditional architecture. Cars are banned from the old capital town (Hora) so eating/walking about the inter-connected tiny white-washed squares is a pleasure.
