Photographer’s Note
Autumn is the time to go hunting for interesting fungi in the woods. However, autumn is also the time when the weather will often let you down by being overcast with little - sometimes too little - light. I found this colony of small fungi (the big one measuring about 3 cm by 1 cm) on a tree stump near my friend's house in Uhre skov (wood) near Kolding when walking around the wood on Sunday afternoon. The light was going, it was even starting to rain a little. Given the poor light conditions it was difficult to get sufficient DOF on the picture, I would have liked a bit more. But with F5 this was the best that could be obtained, and a lower shutter speed would have made it impossible to keep the camera steady for the sufficient amount of time, as I was balancing precariously with one foot in a deep hole (luckily no water in it) and the other foot trying to stay on firm ground without sliding into the hole to join its mate ;-)

Absolutely beautiful, you have the eye to spot these equisite gifts of nature. The rest is nowhere near that important. Composition is good, it is a sharp as you could get it in the circumstances. Lovely!

Lovely colours and composition - where and what would we not do to get a picture? I have one that is maybe 200mm across, but not nearly as colourfull, Great shot, Bente!

had a quick look through the books and the web, we have here is Coriolus versicolor (many zoned Polypore) not edible so no quick snack.
Good shot colours true to subject Nice one.
One thing I have found with digital cameras is that the software is faily good a taking out hand shake at slow speeds, how else do I get away with some of the speeds I post its not because I have a steady hand.So take what the camera recomends then try slowing it down for a couple of extra shots and see what happens :0)))))#

I just love images like this. The patterns you've captured are interesting, the lighting adding a mood that is engaging and inviting. Very nice work.

The range of color and beautiful texture, never made fungi look so good. This is a beautifully composed photo with excellent lighting.
