Photographer’s Note

Autumn is the time to go hunting for interesting fungi in the woods. However, autumn is also the time when the weather will often let you down by being overcast with little - sometimes too little - light. I found this colony of small fungi (the big one measuring about 3 cm by 1 cm) on a tree stump near my friend's house in Uhre skov (wood) near Kolding when walking around the wood on Sunday afternoon. The light was going, it was even starting to rain a little. Given the poor light conditions it was difficult to get sufficient DOF on the picture, I would have liked a bit more. But with F5 this was the best that could be obtained, and a lower shutter speed would have made it impossible to keep the camera steady for the sufficient amount of time, as I was balancing precariously with one foot in a deep hole (luckily no water in it) and the other foot trying to stay on firm ground without sliding into the hole to join its mate ;-)
