Photographer’s Note
This lioness was captured while crossing a channel in the Duba Plains area of the Okavango Delta. She and her pride mates constantly harass the huge buffalo population in the area. There is regular inter-action between them that presents opportunity for many exciting experiences.
Duba Plains is an outstanding safari camp operated by Wilderness Safaris. The guides are brilliant and make a stay there very informative and great for photography. With years of bush knowledge they can almost pinpoint where the game are located and once encountered they can predict behaviour. My guide in this instance, James, also known as 007, has 10 years experience in the area and has worked with many professionals.
James had located a huge heard of buffalo and we crossed the channel to view them. Within 15 minutes the lions appeared and they too crossed through the water with some caution. Perfect positioning of our vehicle allowed us to get great shots of the lions coming towards us. Once accross they attempted to bring down one of the buffalo without success.
