Photographer’s Note
July 8, 1758. Montcalm's troops are severely outnumbered by the advancing British and American colonials, perhaps 4- or 5-to-1. One of the things that turned the day for the French was the superb practice of their gunnery, with which they decimated wave after wave of frontal assaults.
Here at last month's re-enactment a gunner softly blows on the slow-match used to ignite the cannon...

Wow! Matt, this is excellent stuff. Almost artist's work. I like the expression on the face of the boy in red and also how you've caught the flag to the side for balance and colour. Great cropping and well framed in this large format. Very impressive, learned friend.

Hi Matt,
You transport us well back in time with this colorful scene, well captured but framed a bit tight I would say, as the flag is cut on the left. Wes added the best final touch imo.
Have a nice day,

Hi Matt, Nice to see your new post. This is a well taken picture. The expression of the two foreground soldiers are kind of funny in the battle filed. Nice notes about the history. A nice composition; and an excellent shot. A little PP may help. I did a WS. I hope you don’t mind.

this is a very interesting commemoration concerning Mr Moncalm who is very well known here in our History books and at school we learn about him :)))
Technically it is well framed and natural colors are very good, I'll have a special smile to the man with beard on third row...
I like it

Hi Matt,
A nice shot and great reminder of the past. I find the movement and rhythm created by the grass and the guns on the shoulders very interesting. I preferred this version as the misty and soft colours give that added atmosphere of a battle filled with gun smokes. Very impressive!! All the best.
