Photographer’s Note

A view of a modern building viewed from a medieval archway in Varzi. A well preserved medieval quarter in the middle of Varzi is like a little precious stone on a plain golden ring.
The town is renowned for its salami making home industry and its special wine. A wonderful combination for an afternoon trip up to the Pavese hills: first a visit to the medieval Varzi, followed a snack made of Varzi salami, a bottle of Bonarda red wine and the special sliced bread typical of the hills. All this while you are sitting in a relaxing chair under a shady open air lodge overlooking the valley.
