Photographer’s Note

Pigeon notes:

(1) Taxonomy: phylum Chordata, subphylum Vertebrata, class Aves, order Columbiformes, family Columbidae.

(2) Character: amorous and monogamous.

(3) Historical note: there is a memorial in West Sussex, UK, to the pigeons who gave their lives serving as messengers for England in World War II, largely bringing information from the continental underground fighters to England. They carried thousands of messages, including the earliest confirmation of the D-Day landing.

The reason I've classed this as "nature" should be obvious. The reason I also included it under "architecture" is not only because of the beautiful architecture of the building, but also the because of the way that the architecture of the bird's wings is revealed.

This is another Chinatown shot, as you might guess from the roof and the adornments on the building.

Tech: cropping, sharpening, desaturation.
