Photographer’s Note
This is one of many houseboats on Fisherman's Wharf in Victoria's Inner Harbour. Have you ever wondered what it is like living on a houseboat? I did, and when I asked one of the houseboat owners, she sold me a booklet for a dollar. Here’s an excerpt (as told through the voice of a resident blue heron):
“… I cannot think of anywhere I’d rather live. It seems this is true for the majority of us, the humans too. There are always one or two transient ‘would be wharfies’ but most have lived here 10 years or more. All can be heard at one time or another lamenting the lack of space, the constant tourist questions, the persistent winter winds and the limited amenities, but a couple of warm days sitting on the wharf drinking tea in the sun talking to their neighbors or watching me fish or the otters cavorting and all the little annoyances disappear. For me, I sum it up this way:…”
“The tide comes in,
and
The tide goes out,
and
All is right with the world.”
(from the booklet titled “Fish Tales From Fisherman’s Wharf”, by H. Pendray II)
Don’t you just love the potted flowers, and the barbeque grill and picnic table on the roof of this boat? Such a view from up there, and no lawns to mow! Hope you enjoy this peek into a different lifestyle as much as I did.

Thanks for your useful and interesting "Guidelines" that are also very important for sharing your work and experience with us. I like the way you shot this moment. I think that was best to take to take that moment in landscape mode. You used a vertical frame that narrowed a little bit the boat. To be real and honest I think that you have a good composition, a beautiful boat that I like, and colors, definition and a good contrast between the boat and the background buildings, and nevertheless! Don't mind by now and congratulations. My happy new year to you, because my recent "TE" photos with this message were for all "TE" community. See you next.

Very interesting indeed. And yes, I have often wondered about these boat people. They are in the heart of London and Copenhagen and Amsterdam as well. And they must have first class sea-views. The photo is great, but it looks as if it is a bit tilted when one looks at the house in the background.

Jenn,
The color for this one is nice but I am not sure whether the composition is too tight. In my opinion, if you include some more background, this picture can tell more story about the houseboat.
