Photographer's Note

Today, April 22, 2010, is Lenin’s 140-th anniversary. In the Soviet Union people used to celebrate Lenin’s birthday working on subbotnik as volunteers, for free. Now, only what I can do for commemorating the date is posting this curious picture taken at the central part of Hlobine, the capital of a rural area in the south of Poltavska Oblast.

This new Saint Michael’s church was recently built between the town’s main square and its central park, where a monument to Lenin stands. Now the monument is seen only from the park.
