Photographer’s Note
ENGLISH: This is Rye Pier. In a previous posting, I used a slightly different POV to show more completely the amazing double rainbow that appeared - http://www.trekearth.com/viewphotos.php?l=3&p=1130392
Rye is on the Mornington Peninsula of Victoria.
My Workshop shows another POV.

Hi Lisa,
I love the wharf going forever and ever into the scene, and the rainbows are a bonus indeed as is the bird. I like the muted lighting in this one, excellent clouds and detail also.

Hi Lisa,
I didn't realise that pier was so long, even with the wide angle, it is one long way to the end.
Good depth too, f/7.1 I see, good choice.
The rainbow adds that special bit of magic to the shot.
Noice one lovie.

Hi Lisa, This looks very good even in the small version, although i thought it could be at Wynnum in Brisbane. Good POV to show the extreme length. The textures of the stone blocks is easily seen and the rainbows a bonus. TFS. Murray.

Hi Lisa.
See what great shots the marvellous Melbourne weather can bring you? The rainbow arcs make a pleasing counterpoint to the angled view of the pier, balancing the composition well. It's a great sky - typical Melbourne with bits of everything in it from blue to stormy. I like the close-up focus on the stone-work supporting the pier. Just noticed the seagull - sharp at only 1/125; maybe lucky it was more or less coming towards you? Anyway, it's a very striking and well captured picture.
Regards,
Andrew

Ciao Lisa,
this is great cinema. I like the deep sight of the pier and also the cloudy sky. But even more the clear colours of the rainbow. Very fine POV with a good sharpness. TFS and have a fine week.
Take care

Hello Lisa,
It is surprising how many towns in Australia are named after ones England, or perhaps not. The Rye in Sussex certainly doesn't have a pier like this on though it is a fishing port still. I love the great long perspective down the pier towards the vanishing point. The rainbow is beautifully rendered and adds a touch of drama. A classically composed image that well worth seeing. Thanks for sharing. Don't work too hard :-)

A brilliant, beautifully composed shot Lisa - you've made great use of the jetty taking the eye to the left with the rainbow bringing it back - and all with good colour and clouds - even Port Phillip Bay can produce great photos!
cheers

hi lisa
you were very lucky to get this splendid double rainbow, do you know that the colors are inverted, looking carefully at the two arches.
otherwise I also like the depth as well as the placemment of the bird right in the frame.

Hi Lisa, As Andrew said, another great photographic moment provided by Melbourne weather, and well caught too. But, is that a slight tilt on the horizon, down to the left, or an optical illusion? I'm sure Peter would have noticed a tilt, so it must be an illusion. cheers, Steve

Hi Lisa,
Interesting composition. The pier reaches far to the left and the rainbowenters the view from top right corner. The way that railing is in front of the end of the rainbow bothers me though.
I wonder about the colours of the rainbow too. Due to laws of physics they should always be the same, but often cameras seem to 'miss the point'. Also here I guess your eyes saw them more saturated.

Ciao Lisa,
bellissimo questo double rainbow.
Non ho mai avuto la fortuna di vederne uno così. Sempre singoli :(
Notevole il DOF ottenuto grazie all'inserimento del lungo ponte ben definito su tutti i piani.
Molto bello anche il WS.
Well done!
Ciccio
P.S.

Donato

Ciao Lisa, The pier looks so long here, must be low POV &wide angle, colour is fantastic, I think it would have worked even without the double rainbow, but it is the icing on the cake, I also like your WS version with the light & foreground making it I think. The only problem I have you made some reference to the shadow, you do know that you are only supposed to post your own photos??? Yes.;-)
Ciaooooo, Un caro abbraccio

Ciao cara Lisa,
questa prospettiva che si perde nell'oceano e si incrocia con le due scie luminose dell'arcobaleno è veramente fantastica!!Bellissimo anche il cielo. Grande definizione.

Hello Lisa,
Looking through your impressive posts from the Mornington Peninsular, I can now understand why you choose to stay there instead of somewhere nearer to the city during your brief visit. Judging from the near overcast sky one would not expect to see a rainbow, but you have got it not just one but two. You have blended them superbly with the seemingly never ending pier. Excellent FG details and exposure throughout.

immagine spettacolare per il doppio arcobaleno e per la bella prospettiva che hai creato con la diagonale del ponte che attraversa lo scatto.

Hello Lisa,
Here, a nice and strong composition in wide angle making the pier perception longer.
This straigh line is well broken by the rainbow curves giving its originality to the photo.
The stormy weather are usually good for photo and it is demonstrated here.
Yves.
