Photographer’s Note

- In my region – Provins Medieval City – The Caesar Tower - Dating the 12th century this tower is located at the top of the hill on which became established the city. It is the only octagonal donjon on square foundation known in the world. The tower is covered and shelters bells put down on a wooden framework, they achieve it by a staircase, this looking tower also acted as prison. Provins is located about 70 kilometres from Paris, dating former the Middle Ages, it's however in this epoch when it had most notability, after Paris and Rouen, it was the third city of France under the protection of the Champagne Earls, it was famous for its huge fairs. The city is famous for its medieval fortifications, 1200 metres long and including 22 towers in various geometries, the surrounding wall of the high city was constructed from 1226 till 1314. Classified in the worldwide Heritage of the humanity by the UNESCO, Provins preserve today 58 monuments classified or inscribed to the Inventory of Ancient monuments!
