Photographer’s Note
This picture was taken during our wonderful holiday in western Crete in early July.
This funny little three-wheeled vehicle is typical of those used by farmers to cart their goods to market and shops. They are often seen slowly trundling along with huge cargoes of melons and vegetables, stopping off at shops and fruit stalls, their drivers seeming to spend most of their time drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes with shop owners before eventually travelling another short distance to the next stop where the process is repeated. Life seems to be slow and relaxed in rural Crete.
Shot in RAW and converted and edited in PSE6 with cropping done at the TIFF stage in FastStone.

Hello John,
When I saw this picture, I had a feeling of déjà-vu – then I realised I'd seen a TL posting of yours from some time back, that I hadn't written a critique on. The shots look virtually identical apart from the telegraph pole, that you have cleverly cloned out here.
I see that although they were taken within less than a minute of each other, they have different image numbers and were taken at different focal lengths.
Anyway they are both fine pictures, sharp and clear, with that hot sun beating down from a clear sky.
Composition - There are good leads into the picture along the line of the road, and along the tops of the doors and windows. The little red truck – the main object of interest - is neatly placed on an intersection of thirds.
The other vertical line of thirds passes through the window to the right of the blue door. A good contrast of this faded blue with the red of the truck.
The colours of the pink flowers behind the truck, its blue roof cover and the greenery in front of it, are a good foil to the ochre shades of the old buildings.
An illustrative diagram in the WS.
Kind regards,
Peter.

Hi John,
All the "natural" colours of the houses here are very attractively combined with the strong colours of the car and of the flowers. This is also a fine composition with this "red element" at a third. Peter´s analysis is, as always, on the spot!
Kind regards
Gunnar
