On the way to Chiang Khong Photo

Photographer’s Note

From Chiang Mai (north of Thailand) with Laurent we went by motorbike to Chiang Khong (a popular gateway town to the Northern part of Laos).
We left in the morning and had few stops to enjoy the surrounding scenic landscapes.
50 kms before arriving in Chiang khong, we stopped in a village called Khuntan, a district(amphoe) of Chiang Rai Province.
There, we met very nice people who invited us for a local drink made of rice alcohol with mountain herbs.
When we left them it was sunset time and the sky became spectacular.

Bonjour Marilyn,

Sympathique escapade qui me semble avoir été bien arrosée en voyant ta photo en WS, en tous les cas la moto est nickel, pas une trace de boue sur la carosserie !!! Mais la fin de journée est toute autre comme on peut le voir, superbe coucher de soleil, qui semble d'ailleurs démesuré derrière toutes cette forêt de nuages, J'aime beaucoup tous ces reliefs en contre jour qui donnent d'excellents dégradés. Très belle photo, merci Marilyn.

Tu mets le feu sur TE, la planète me paraît être en surchauffe, déjà. Les couleurs sont spectaculaires, et ses nuances indiquent la profondeur du paysage. Bravo.

Hello Marilyn,
It is best when the sun in out of sight which allows you to capture the golden sky. Combined with the mountainous landscape this shot is simply fantastic.

c'est pure beauté quand le ciel embrasé est tout en nuages et sur fond de montagnes.
j'aime beaucoup le dégradé des tons sombres des montagnes succesives
et puis se souvenir de chiang mai c'est se souvenir des belles choses.

Dear Marilyn

So you traveled with Laurant. We wanted to meet in Bangkok, I guess in August, but during the week I normally have a heavy work load, so we did not meet.

The region of Chiang Rai I resp. we know very well. We have some friends in Mae Sai and Tashilek. If possible we will return there this December, when we have time. Personally we prefer Chiang Rai region over the touristic Chiang Mai.

Returning to your beautiful photograph it shows a very spectacular sunset. All the hues of red, yellow are there. Rightly you have given the sky a lot of space, it would be a pity not to do so. Well done

On a réussi à arriver malgré les alcools locaux consommés sans modération, les milliers d'insectes s'écrasant sur mon visage (et ta visière!)... Je me souviens bien de cet arrêt et de ces montagnes s'étageant dans le ciel doré...

Bonjour Marilyn.
1800 km en moto c'est quelque chose qui force le respect surtout avec les pluies dont on voit l'effet sur la photo du WS. Ce ciel est d'une très grande beauté. J'aime les couleurs du ciel et les différents plans des montagnes qui le précèdent.
