Photographer’s Note

Good Morning Everyone,

This morning, I am sharing a shot of the Elector's Palace at Trier.

It was my very first trip to Germany and though we should have been sailing the Rhine, the unusually low water levels meant that we had to sail the Moselle instead. When I think about the beautiful sights we encountered, I'm not disappointed

This fantastic building called The Elector's Palace, or The Electoral Palace is attached to the famous Roman Basilica, which can be seen as a red brick building to the left.

The day that we visited was warm and sunny. I couldn't have chosen a better day to view this wonderful old town, once second in importance to Rome.

Good morning Beverley!
That's what the eyes need today!
You show us a truly beautiful scenery here - and I like how the eyes are lead by the flowers to the magnificent and interesting buildings in background.
Isn't Trier a worth-visiting place!? One of my sons studies there - so I often can enjoy this town. Please look HERE ;-)
By the way -I think Moselle valley is more beautiful and interesting than Rhine valley.

Hello Bev,
The point of view is well chosen making good use of the flower beds as a colourful lead line towards the delightful looking palace. Good light and colours and fine clarity. Looks a splendid place for a walk on a sunny afternoon.

It's a beautiful castle within its equally nice garden and a good pov to present it, but technically the image has several minor flaws:
1. It tilts a bit to the left
2. There is a little PP halo around the roof
3. It lacks some highlights to shine even better
Having a RAW file I think it can be possible to set it right.

Lokks like there was a silver lining in the low Rhine River cloud! I like the sweeping curve of the yellow flowers along the water's edge. Good colour, sharpness & saturation. Tfs!

I guessed you would have a new post today and I'm not disappointed. I have yet to download my latest takings. I might have time later.
This does look like a beautiful place. I like your choice of POV which is not the obvious one. Here we have the sweeping curves of yellow to follow all the way to the palace. I think there is every colour of the rainbow represented here. Well done

Very lovely impression of this famous place including your trademark – a diagonal! It is fascinating comparing this image with the one taken by ClaudeD only some weeks ago.

Hi Bev,
A beautiful and, in this very moment, also an interesting picture! We are leaving for a short holiday tomorrow, flying with RyanAir to Frankfurt-Hahn, then driving down to south France and going back ten days later. We visited Frank 'Buin' in Siegen in May and he strongly recommended Trier. Due to some circumstances we never made it, but this time we will certainly spend our last day here! We ahve passed it many times though...

The lovely flowers make a smashing lead-in to the beautiful fountain and beautiful pink castle.
The vivid blue sky and wonderful light really makes this stunning architecture stand out.

Hi Bev.
Your first shot of your first trip to Germany? Delightful scene, great colours in the slightly autumnal light. It's a lovely palace and garden arrangement, and your exposure is well controlled for the highlights, almost too controlled I think. Just one other thing - it's got a serious tilt in it! I should talk - I do this all the time and don't realise until someone tells me on TE! It hardly matters in this case, as the colour and composition make it a very pleasing picture. I look forward to seeing some more shots from your trip.
