Photographer’s Note

The Brisbane River is a large, meandering river which cuts Brisbane City into two sections, North and South. It is crossed by about 15 large bridges in the city area, 3 are currently under construction being the Hale St Bridge, the Kurilpa Pedestrian Bridge and the second Gateway Bridge. Brisbane is a city with a growing population, currently at about 1.85 million people with over 50,000 new residents a year moving here from interstate annually. The boat you can see here is one of several paddle steamers which were purpose built for the World Expo which was held in the city in 1988. The skies on this particular day, like most, were clear and blue but recently we had a thick dust storm which was unprecedented and very unwelcome.

I like very much this excellent composition and the straight vertical lines of the skyscrapers! these lines are so well balanced by the horizontal lines at the bottom :) Exellent clarity and sharpness, as well as natural colors!

Nice skyline image with good highlights delivering a luminous impression, it seems to me there are 2 buildings generations here, heritage ones close to the waterfront and modern new world high rises behind

Great shot of this great Australian city with it's contrasting architecture. The addition of the paddle wheeler in the foreground makes the shot. The lighting and colors are great and the photo has nice sharpness and detail.

Good inclusion of the Kookaburra Queen riverboat. Excellent sharpness, & nice to see a smog free city. Blue skies in NE Asia are a rarity, usually only after heavy rain, the preceding day or two. Tfs!

Hi Matt, Very sharp photograph with terrific blue sky as the backdrop. The clarity of every window is exceptional. Interesting to see how rapid the population is growing there, and any visitor can see why it is so popular. TFS. Murray.
