Photographer’s Note

This panorama, which is a stitch of 10 images, was made using ArcSoft Panorama Maker software.

It was taken a few yards to left of my recent posting, where you can read more about this lighthouse.

I think this is the first time I have managed to produce a 10 image panorama at the full width of 4000 pixels allowed in TE.

Reducing the large picture to the 800 pixels version you see here now, has resulted in some loss of quality. Please click on this image to see the large version.

Taken as JPEG: PP in ArcSoft Panorama Maker, FastStone and PhotoShop 7.

ISO 200: F 7.1: exposures between 1/110 and 1/250:
FL: 36mm.

A beautiful panorama clear and sharp with a similar but ever changing défilé of rocks, blue water, blue sky and boats. and a lighthouse on top.

Hi Peter,
It is a true pleasure to scroll along the horizon and study all amazing details here. A fantastic panorama! I get an impression of nearly 180 degrees between the edges here, or what could it be? I must try this again, my first attempt was not to my complete satisfaction. But this is marvellous, no visible joints at all!

Ten images, eh? This is becoming war!

Seriously, this is a wonderful panorama. It is, as others have said, a technically perfect panorama, with no evidence (that I can see) of any "joins". The colours are beautiful and the sharpness incredible.

Panning across the picture, there are so many lovely and interesting features on which to linger.

But of all the subjects I see here, there is one magical one: the figure standing at the far right, arms outretched on the wall in front of them, gazing wistfully at the view. That is wonderful!

P.S. You might have noticed that I wrote a little précis about panorama making for TE in a reply to a critique I received from Bev (glint) on a panorama I posted of the Tay Bridge recently. I think that was fairly accurate with one exception: we are each limited to a total upload of 10Mb of panorama pictures which means, at an individual maximum of 400Kb per panorama, a total of about 25 panoramas, not 12 as I wrongly stated.

Hello Peter,
what a stunning image! Like John I loved the surprise of finding the man at the far right. Lovely colours and so many lovely little boats doted about. As Hilda Ogden (Coronation Street) would have said all those years ago, this would make a grand "muriel".

Hi Peter. This is a great panorama with good definition and nice colors. I've never made a panorama but have read often that the use of a polariser is not welcome on them but I see that you used it and I don't see any problem!

I've discovered today your fine workshops regarding the rules of composition and find them very useful. Thank you for them. BEst regards. Paulo
