Photographer’s Note

Leaving Zion we didn't expect to come across what is basically a tourist trap. The Virgin Trading Post is a shop selling lots of tacky and some OK souvenirs and it's possible to pay $1 to visit this funny collection of buildings called Fort Zion. For another dollar you get 4 carrots to feed the horse, donkeys, alpacas, sheep (but they don't like carrots) and rabbits which are behind the buildings.

En quittant Zion, nous n'attendions pas de voir cette attrape-touriste qui est un grand magasin de souvenirs (bon et mauvais). Il est aussi possible de payer $1 pour visiter ce drôle de collection d'édifices appelée Fort Zion. Pour un dollar de plus, vous recevez 4 carrottes pour nourrier le cheval, les ânes, les alpacas, les moutons (qui n'aiment pas les carrottes) et les lapins.

The jail close to the bank,a perfect arrangement for this period.

This is so tacky that one can help but appreciate it. Well done picture with a good POV and line. I just can't help but wonder why anyone would bother creating such a place - especially outside of Zion of all parks. Well I guess if one can make a buck, exactly one buck, why not? Great post.

I believe both normal that in places as these sell all to the tourists..... also the ugliest things, beautiful instead the image where you have saturated very well the colors.

Hi Nikki,
Actually kind of cute, tacky but cute. I guess it's worth a look, I didn't see the place passing through, beside I didn't have enough time, I had to make it all the way back to Southern California in one day from Bryce. Other than a couple small stops to use the restroom and some photos, no time for anything else. Next time.
Very cheerful color like old post card and well suited for the image.

LOL ca fait decor pour film en carton pate, surtout que meme s'il n'y a personne a cote on dirait des miniatures, peut etre a la taille de Mikel... C'est un peu bright comme image

Hello Nikki,

Il me semblait bien que ce décor était trop clinquant pour que cela soit de vrais bâtiments d'époque !
Mais je trouve que cela montre que les habitants ont réussi à tirer parti de leur passé afin de faire vivre la région.
Je trouve ton ciel un peu trop surexposé. Sinon, il s'agit là d'une vue amusante.

What a funny place, it seems almost surreal!
From the thumb I thought it is a movie set but frankly it looks more like a cartoon...
A well framed scene, a balanced composition with well handled details and colours!

Esto parece más un escenario de dibujos animados que no otra cosa... creo que Bugs Bunny y Elmo van a aparecer en cualquier momento.

Hello Nikki, At first I thought this looks something out of those western movies but on second thought it's more akin to the roadrunner cartoon, interesting though. Extrordinary colour. Weird collection of animals to feed.
