Photographer’s Note

San Gregorio da Sassola(Rome)

Hill center to East of Rome, in the distric of the Prenestini Mounts. The historical, enough harmonious nucleus and very conserved, is composed of two parts: one medieval and one XVI century (constructed after the plague of the six hundred). They find the imposing to Brancaccio Castle and several beautiful Churches; outside of the village it is an ancient Convent. In its territory the Saxula Roman rose here (from the name) and today in the campaign of Saint Gregorio rests of aqueducts and takeovers are found and above all traces of the ancient one Via Antira (than it it combined to Gabii) with bridges and colorful ends.

Centro di collina a Est di Roma, nel comprensorio dei Monti Prenestini. Il nucleo storico, abbastanza armonioso e ben conservato, è composto di due parti: una medievale ed una seicentesca (costruita dopo la peste del seicento). Vi si trovano l’imponente Castello Brancaccio e varie belle Chiese; fuori del borgo è un antico Convento. Nel suo territorio sorgeva la romana Saxula (da qui il nome ) ed oggi nella campagna di San Gregorio si trovano resti di acquedotti e insediamenti e soprattutto tracce dell’antica Via Antira (che la congiungeva a Gabii) con ponti e scorci pittoreschi. .www.lazioturismo.it

A phjopto that is interesting as a& subject with these narrow high buildings packed together, but also well brought in clear grey tones and soft light.

Lo sharp di questa foto fa la differenza, perchè senza quello non potremmo godere appieno di questa immagine, che vale la pena di ammirare millimetro per millimetro. Mi piace osservare il disordine architettonico delle finestre, che comunque rende ancora più interessante la visuale di questo paesello. Veramente bella.

Stunning photo, Georgio,

What a gorgeous subject: Italy's hilltop villages are truly some of its most picturesque and photogenic treasures. The close cut really allows the viewer to see and appreciate the finer details of these medieval skyscrapers. The touches of blue, green, and yellow really stand out against the drab stone walls, and the assortment of small windows draws in the viewers eye and implores the observer to ponder who lives inside. Thank you for transporting us to such an enchanting place through your image - well done.

Elles sont très impressionnantes, ces vieilles maisons, et toutes croches. C'est une photo presque monochrome, n'eut été des petites taches bleues. Belle prise.

Hello Giorgio.
A splendid photo, relying on the textures and patterns made by these old buildings. This view cannot have changed since the invention of television. The focus on the architecture and exclusion of all other things, like the sky, really works well. The hanging washing, the outdoor chairs, are the signs of life. The colour tones are subtle, but you have some little splashes of blue. It's a wonderful picture of this hillside district.

Une architecture étonnante et magnifique . L'effet est renforcé par l'absence de ciel . Seulement quelques taches bleues ou jaunes dans ces tonalités minérales .

Adoro foto come asi, quasi monocrome e ricche in dettagli. E bello e allo stesso interessante. E in particolare interessante vedere l'asimmetria totale che regna in questa fotografia.
Forse avrei più preferito questa foto con meno verde in fondo alla fotografia.
